Spanish Placement Exam

Spanish Placement Exam

CEDEI’s Spanish placement exam is meant to determine your level based on FOUR language levels offered in our program, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL):

  • Level 1 – A 1.1/Novice High
  • Level 2 – A1.2/Intermediate Low (Intermediate Low)
  • Level 3 – A2/Intermediate Middle (Intermediate Mid)
  • Level 4 – B1.1/High Intermediate (Intermediate High)

*The purpose of this exam is to determine your strengths and weaknesses in the different Spanish language skills in order to offer you a course that develops, reinforces, and advances your studies of this language.

  • Beginner: This exam assesses your proficiency at L1 and L2. If you exceed L2, you will take the intermediate placement exam.
  • Intermediate: This exam evaluates your knowledge of L3 and L4. If you demonstrate a proficiency level that exceeds L4, you will have the opportunity to advance directly to Level 5 – B1.2 Advanced Low.
