Host Family
Experience authentic culture and connection through our welcoming host families.
Overview of Host Family
CEDEI’S host families offer students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the Ecuadorian culture while enhancing their Spanish language skills. By living with a local family, students experience daily life in Ecuador firsthand, gaining insights that extend far beyond the classroom.
Selection Process
To ensure a safe and supportive environment, potential host families are carefully selected and vetted. The Host Family Coordinator conducts thorough interviews and assessments, ensuring that each family aligns with the CEDEI’s program values and can provide a nurturing atmosphere for students.
Family Profiles
Host families come from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles. Some may be young couples, while others could include families with children or retired individuals. Each family has its own interests, from culinary traditions to outdoor activities, offering students a chance to connect over shared passions.
Accommodation Details
Students can expect comfortable living arrangements, including a private room that fosters personal space. Host families provide three meals a day, laundry services, and Wi-Fi access, creating a home-like environment that encourages relaxation and study.
Expectations and Responsibilities
To ensure a harmonious living experience, clear expectations are set for both students and host families. Students are encouraged to communicate openly about their needs and preferences, respect house rules, and actively participate in family life. In return, host families commit to providing a welcoming and supportive environment.
